Miller's Hide-A-Way Resort "Things To Do"

During your stay at the Hide-A-Way you'll find a multitude of things to do spring, summer and fall. Whatever your idea of a good time, you can do it best right here. If water sports are your thing, we have everything from world-class trout fishing to body surfing and jet skiing. Or test your skill at one of our world-class golf courses. Bike the Betsie Valley Trail or one of the State of Michigan bike trails. Climb the sand dunes at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, only a few miles drive away from the resort..

Spring in Northern Michigan is long awaited with its beautiful cherry blossoms, abundant wildflowers and woods filled with wildlife. Wake up to clean, cool air that fills you with energy to tackle any golf course or blossoming hiking trail. Spend the day hunting the elusive morel mushroom or kayaking down a pristine river. Locals and visitors alike partake in the spring activities of mushrooming, hiking, bicycling, kayaking, fishing, smelt dipping, baseball, golf and shopping.

Spring time is also when the steelhead and trout begin their run into the Betsie and Manistee Rivers. If you are a fisherman, there are a number of river charters you can take on either of these two rivers.

Summer brings arts and crafts shows, parades, festivals, musical events and are just a sample of the things you will be able to do. Sightseeing in this area is fun and interesting, the vacation homes are exquisite and the local shops offer plenty of shopping for the most unique items we all love to "find". Access to boating, fishing and swimming are within easy reach from the resort. Nearby there are many challenging and scenic golf courses.

Fourth of July celebrations in nearby Beulah include fireworks, a parade, a Firecracker 5K Footrace and other fun-filled activities. Call 231-882-5801 for details. The Beulah Art Fair is an annual, juried show the Saturday after July 4 in the Beulah Park (231-325-6642) for more information. The National Coho Festival is held in the local town of Honor the 3rd weekend in August (231-882-5801).

In the fall, cool nights, migrating wild fowl and colorful trees mark the change of season in northwest Michigan. Spend the day golfing, shopping, hunting, color touring or kayaking and then unwind in the evening at one of the fine, local restaurants.

The fall months are jam-packed with events focused on pumpkins, fall foliage, harvest festivals, football and Michigan’s seasonal bounty. The village of Beulah has its annual Fall Fest in October. Activities include a Timber Art presentation, soup contest, farm market, cider press, petting zoo, pumpkin carving and safety presentation (800-882-5801). Frankfort celebrates Great Pumpkin Days in October (231-352-7251).
